DEBORAH ADAMS
MEMBER AT LARGE
I spent my honeymoon in the Smokies and many vacations in these mountains dreaming of moving from MS. That being said my dreams became a reality after moving to Townsend and I became active in the art guild and participating in art activities. Exposure to the art in East TN and being an Arrowmont student became a reality.
The Silk Painters International Festival was held at Arrowmont and my dream of painting on silk and watching the dyes being manipulated by the flow across the silk fibers with salt, resist, soy wax and, other means just thrilled me.
I Juried into the Foothills Craft Guild In 2012 with several fiber pieces that I had spun on my spinning wheel , woven on my ridged heddle loom or needle felted hats and hand painted or dyed scarves. Scarves and wearables of silk and cotton are my favorite art pieces to work on. My studio space is in The Townsend Artisan Gallery and Studios.
I am a member of The Smoky Mountain Silk Painters Guild, The Foothills Craft Guild, The Silk Painters International Guild, The East TN Handspinners Guild-and The Townsend Artisan Guild and MS Quilt Association.
